This thesis examines students' perceptions of the use of
YouTube as an English learning medium for eleventh year students
of SMA Darussalam Blokagung Tegalsari Banyuwangi for the 2020-
2021 school year. The benefit of this research is to find out the
advantages and disadvantages of Youtube as a learning medium to
improve the learning system in the classroom. The research method
used is descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques
using interview methods and questionnaire methods. Interviews were
conducted with some students in the class totaling 15 students, while
questionnaires were given to all students of class XI MIA 2 SMA
Darussalam. This study aims to determine the advantages and
disadvantages of Youtube as a learning medium to improve the
learning system in the classroom. This researcher aims to determine
whether the learning system can generate interest in learning in
students or not. The findings of this study conclude that research on
the perception of learning using the YouTube media gets a lot of
positives from the students of class XI mia 2 SMA Darussalam. the
positive side evidence is evident from the results of interviews and
questionnaires. interviews were conducted on 15 students and
questionnaires were given to all students of class XI mia 2. The most
common problem in the application of youtube media to the learning
system is that the internet connection is not used for facilities alone,
but wifi is only used in the computer lab during class hours. Not only
at SMA Darussalam Blokagung. but maybe in other schools. This
research can be useful to add insight to teachers regarding the use of
Youtube in online learning in elementary schools. Students can also
use Youtube anytime and anywhere to learn. In addition, it can be
used as input and suggestions for teachers in providing learning
media to support the learning process. They argue that learning using
youtube media is more effective than not using media.
