Thepurposeofthisresearchistoseeifdirectapproachescanbe
used to teach speaking abilities.The authorconducted thisresearch
becausehesawadeficiencyinspeakingtostudents.Sotheseproblems
requiretherightmethodtoimprovethestudents'speakingskills.The
solutiontothisproblemistouseadirectmethodinteachingstudents.The
authorchosetheresearchusingaqualitativemethodwhichheconsidered
appropriatewiththetitle"TheUseofDirectMethodinTeachingSpeaking
SkillateleventhGradeStudentsofSMAYPPIBelitanginAcademicYear
2020/2021".Therefore,theresearcherchosetheDirectmethodtobeused
in teaching speaking skills to 11th grade students ofSMA YPPI
Wonorejo.Thestudyemploysaqualitativeresearchdesign.Thestudy's
participantswere30studentsfrom classXISMAYPPIWonorejobk8
BelitangOKUTimurforthe2020/2021academicyear.Researchersasa
keyinstrumentinthisstudy,researchersmakeobservations,interviews,
anddocumentationareusedbyresearcherstogatherinformation.In

research,thisissometimesreferredtoastriangulation.Researchers
confirm the accuracy and authenticity of the data by repeating
observations,seekingforsourcesofinformationthatarenotlimitedto
oneinformant,andthenmatchingthefacts.

ThedirecttechniqueoflearningEnglishhadabeneficialinfluence,
accordingtothestudy.Somepupilsindicatedthatthedirectspeaking
stylewasenjoyableforthem.Furthermore,thisstrategyhelpsindividuals
memorizeterminologyandimprovestheirabilitytospeakthelanguage
with good and precise pronunciation,fluency,and grammar.On the
advantageofthedirecttechnique,whichrequiresstudentstopractice
learningvocabulary,pronunciation,fluency,andgrammarcomponentsof
speakingEnglish,Ithasanimpactonpupils'abilitytoimprovetheir
speakingskills,eveniftheyhavenotyetmasteredthem.Theresearcher's
discovery thatpupils can enhance theirEnglish speaking skills by
practicingmore.

Theresearcherconcludedthatusingthedirectmethodinteaching
speakinghadapositiveimpactonstudents'vocabulary,pronunciation,
fluency,andspeakingskills,aswellasemotionalstudentswhowereable
toovercomeshame,lackofconfidence,andfearofbeingwrongby
frequentlypracticingEnglishspeaking.
