Abstract

ABSTRACT

The research was conducted based on the phenomena that happened in the
school. Grammar is one of important composition in English. The students in
the ECC course still made grammatical errors. The purpose of this thesis is to
analyze students errors in writing paragraphs of text reports based on the
problems studied by students who are still grammatically incorrect. The
researchers formulated two research questions: (1) what are the most
common mistakes in writing report texts (2) what causes students to make
mistakes in writing report texts in the advanced class of ECC (English
conversation club) This thesis is a descriptive qualitative method. The data
was taken from the student test by making a text report and then analyzing it.
After being analyzed, the error was explained in the error category proposed
by Dulay and finally explained what the cause of the error was. In this study,
the researchers took a sample of 12 advanced class students.Data is taken
from student tests by making report texts and then analyzing them. The error

what the cause of the error was. In addition, the researcher calculated the
proportion using the percentage formula and found the cause of the students
making errors. Based on data analysis, the researchers found that the types of
errors made by students in writing report texts. The total number of errors
made by students was 116 errors. The percentage of students omissions
errors in writing report texts were 62, 6% or 72 errors, an additional 25% or
30 errors, misformation 12% or 14 errors, and 0% errors or no errors . And
most of the common student errors made by students are omission errors,
which are 62, 6%, or 72 errors.
